MÉRIDA.- This Thursday the state health authorities announced a series of measures for total reactivation, including the withdrawal of the mandatory use of face masks in open spaces.
In a statement, the withdrawal of the mandatory use of face masks in open spaces was announced. Measure holds for closed spaces and public transport. The agency also specified that as a preventive measure, they recommend the use of face masks in older adults, with comorbidities that put their health at risk or who present symptoms of a respiratory disease.
In addition also Sanitary filters are removed at the entrance of each place. However, these will only be kept when entering schools.
Yucatan has been without deaths from Covid for more than a month
The state currently has favorable indicators to take another step towards total reactivation, since the entity has 41 days without reporting a single death and during the last month, the daily positive cases decreased by 98% compared to the month of January, going from 913 to 18 cases on average.
During that same period, deaths from this disease decreased 100% compared to the month of January, going from 7 to 0 deaths on average. In the same period, hospital admissions decreased 91% compared to January, going from 23 to just 2 admissions, on average, and the average occupancy for the month of January was 110 occupied beds, while, for the last month, the average occupancy is 9 occupied beds, having a decrease of 92%.
Covid in Yucatan: How many infections were there today, May 12, 2022?
The Ministry of Health reported that today May 12, 2022 39 new cases of Covid in Yucatan. The infections were 31 in Mérida, four in Progreso, two in Samahil and one in Umán and Tekax.
In addition, the secretariat announced that the entity remains without new deaths from Covid, so the death toll remains at 6,931.
