Wolf now also shows up in North Holland

The wolf has now also penetrated North Holland, according to research into the cause of death of a deer.

A hiker found the dead deer at the beginning of April in the Hilversum part of the Goois Nature Reserve. DNA research shows that the deer was killed by a wolf.

“We had to wait a while for the result, but we already had a suspicion,” forest ranger John Didderen told NH Nieuws. “The dead deer was really a picture from the book, but then there must be proof. We now have that.”

The Goois Nature Reserve says it is pleased with the arrival. “It is a young wolf and it was a one-time visit,” said a spokesperson. “He belongs in our ecosystem, it is also a bit of a crown on our work. We are quite pleased because of his visit.”

The wolf has already been spotted in many other places in the Netherlands.
