Setback for Gil Ofarim (39) in the Star of David Zoff: After he said in an Instagram video last week that he was denied check-in at the Leipzig luxury hotel Westin because of his Star of David trailer, a witness is now questioning the descriptions.
«He was in line and wanted to check in. But that didn’t work because something was broken in the front. This technical problem has been going on for a while. So I’ve definitely walked through people five times – and it didn’t decrease, ”says graphic artist and painter Günther Rothe, who was present at the hotel to set up his exhibition, to“ RTL ”. He does not want to have heard of a verbal battle over the Star of David. “I was about 15 meters away and can’t tell you anything about dialogues.”
Allegations are “so absurd”
But he could not imagine that an employee of the hotel would have made anti-Semitic statements. “It’s so absurd. I live in Leipzig and have already done a lot of events here. A top service, a top run hotel. It’s also practically inconceivable that someone would do something like this as a professional. It harms itself and also its business. “
Rather, the artist suspects that Ofarim broke his collar due to the long waiting time – until an employee threw him out of the hotel. “At least he must have said something – otherwise he wouldn’t have received a reprimand. It will probably be the case that he had the feeling: ‘I am the big star and my turn will be immediately. But that didn’t work. ” He finds the allegations that the musician is now directing against the hotel totally exaggerated. “You can’t shoot mosquitoes with atomic bombs just because you think you haven’t been given preferential treatment.”
Ofarim and hotel staff have filed a complaint
A different version of the incident could also be heard from hotel circles. The singer’s management denies that it was different. “He says that is always the problem with anti-Semitism: that in the end there is a testimony against a testimony. He definitely didn’t bully. ” Ofarim now wants to file a criminal complaint against the hotel employee and testify as a witness in the case. The clerk, however, has reported him for defamation. The two hotel employees involved were given leave of absence until the case was resolved. (imh)
