He is the current president of the Dominican Society for Pathology of the Lower Genital Tract and Colposcopy. Previously, he was Secretary General of the Dominican Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Vice President of the entity that he currently directs.

On the other hand, he is founder and medical director of the Health Service Medical Center, editor of clinical notes and articles, lecturer and professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE).

He was secretary general of the Dominican Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, vice president of the Dominican Society for Pathology of the Lower Genital Tract and Colposcopy 2013-2015, member of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology and of the Dominican Society of Pathology of the Lower Genital Tract and Colposcopy during the period 2017-2019.

Mario Lama was appointed by the president-elect, Luis Abinader, along with Luis Miguel De Camps (Minister of Labor) and Sonia Guzmán (ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Washington).
