Windows Defender Security icon disappeared from the taskbar

The Windows Defender icon no longer appears or no longer opens on the taskbar or in the notification area, for example following an update or following the uninstallation of a third-party antivirus.

Try the above procedures to restore the Windows Defender icon to the taskbar or in the notification area.

  • View Windows Defender from Settings
  • Fichier reg Enable Windows Security
  • SecurityHealthSystray.exe on startup
  • Task Manager
  • Reset Defender with Powershell
  • Reinstall Windows Security with Command Prompt

View Windows Defender from Settings

To open Settings ►Personalization-►Task bar

Section -►Notification area.

Click on the line -► Select the icons to display in the task bar



Highlight the line –►Windows Security notification icon



Restart the PC

Fichier reg Enable Windows Security

Enregistrer Enable_Windows_Security_notification_icon_for_all_users

Double click on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.

Click Execute, OK (UAC), Yes and OK to approve the merge.

Or right click on the reg file then Merge



Restart the PC

SecurityHealthSystray.exe on startup

Open and go to ► Ce-PC -►Windows -►System32

Go down to the letter H and right click on -►SecurityHealthSystray

Then -►Send to-►Office (Create shortcut)



Keyboard key Windows + R to open the Startup folder.

Taper -► shell:startup

Then OK

Or right click on the Start button then on the -► lineExecute

Copy / paste or drag shortcut SecurityHealthSystray in the file Start-up .

Restart the PC


Task Manager

Right click on the taskbar -►Task Manager

-► tab Start-up

Activer -► Windows Security notification icon



Restart the PC.

Reset Defender with Powershell

Reset Windows Security Application from Powershell.

In the search field on the taskbar type -►powershell

Right click on Windows Powershell -►Execute as administrator

In the PowerShell console, copy and paste the command below and press Enter key on the keyboard.

Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI* | Reset-AppxPackage



After the command is executed, exit the PowerShell console.

Restart the PC.

Reinstall Windows Security with Command Prompt

In the search field on the taskbar type -►cmd

Right click on cmd ►Execute as administrator

In the command prompt console copy and paste the command below and press Enter key on the keyboard.

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command “& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI*).InstallLocation + ‘AppxManifest.xml’ ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}”

Restart the pc
