Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus, a Russian manufacturing subsidiary of the Hyundai concern, has filed a petition with the FAS to purchase 94.83% of fixed assets from General Motors Auto LLC.

This LLC owns the General Motors enterprise in Shushary, which was mothballed by the American concern in 2015. Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus (HMMR) DP confirmed that GM and Hyundai Motor are “at the stage of discussing a deal to buy a GM plant in St. Petersburg.” The company declined to comment further.

The Korean concern already owns its own plant in St. Petersburg, where it manufactures Hyundai Solaris, Hyundai Creta, KIA Rio and KIA Rio X – Line models. In June, next to it, the construction of another enterprise began – for the production of Hyundai WIA engines. The volume of investments in the project is estimated at 13.1 billion rubles.
