On July 23, 1st Class Tojohasina Razafintsalama, soldier of the 1st Parachute Hussar Regiment of Tarbes died, killed by the explosion of a suicide vehicle in Mali. This Monday July 27, at 4:30 p.m. at the Invalides (Paris), a tribute will be paid to this 26-year-old soldier of Malagasy origin.
Born on October 20, 1994 in Mahazoarivo in Madagascar, Tojohasina Razafintsalama was engaged in August 2018 within the 1st regiment of hussars parachutists of Tarbes, reports the Army. He was then trained and “stands out for his excellent state of mind and shows great potential.”
“Always voluntary”, “motivated”, he was noticed during a mission in New Caledonia which earned him a letter of congratulations. He was decorated in 2019 with the National Defense Medal “Bronze.” It was screened at Mali July 14, 2020 as part of Operation “Barkhane”.
On July 23, Tojohasina Razafintsalama was killed by “an explosion of an enemy suicide vehicle near his light armored vehicle north of Forward Operating Base Gossi.” Two other soldiers were injured by this attack. The young soldier was single without children, specifies the Army.
