WhatsApp is said to be working behind the scenes on a function that should suit haters of voice messages: the transcription of voice messages. However, a distribution of the function is not yet in sight.

However, the description of the function by WABetaInfo still sounds a bit vague. The transcription does not run on the WhatsApp or Facebook servers, but Apple helps out on iOS devices with its speech recognition. to Android one does not express oneself on the part of the colleagues. You could of course fall back on Google’s technologies in the background. But that would mean that transcripts on Android and iOS could be of different quality. Do you want that on WhatsApp?

The function of transcribing should be optional and logically require special authorizations. The transcribed messages are to be saved locally, so they can then also be called up later. I’m curious to see whether beta users will be able to get access in the near future and how the feature will actually work out in practice.
