What is the role of the National Council for Mental Health in the care of the psychiatrist?

Law No. 210 of 2020 amending some provisions of the Mental Health Care Law defines several tasks for the National Mental Health Council, which consists of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health. Mental health facilities.

Among the most important tasks that the National Council for Mental Health undertakes are the following:

1. Develop policies that guarantee respect for the rights and safety of mental patients.

2. Monitoring the conditions of admission, detention and treatment of mental patients and ensuring that they enjoy the guarantees and rights stipulated in this law.

3. Deciding on grievances against the decisions of the regional councils for mental health.

4. Setting licensing criteria issued by the Ministry of Health and Population to manage and operate psychological facilities.

5. Forming a technical committee of specialized doctors to review patients’ records when necessary.
