In this sequel, the protagonist has become a navy test pilot, a job that he always considered ideal for him after the events he experienced in the first installment. Everything has changed in this long time, there hasn’t been a big war in years and the role of the aviators can now be performed by an intelligent and extremely modern drone. However, the great Maverick will prove that his talent and fearlessness cannot be replaced in any way. In addition to Cruise, the main cast includes Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm y Ed Harris.

Clarisse Loughrey, de Independent: “The movie is a true legacy sequel. In the tradition of Star Wars: The Force Awakensis a carefully reconstructed clone of its predecessor, designed not only to reflect changing tastes and attitudes, but also its star Tom Cruise’s rise to a level of fame that borders on the mythological. […] Top Gun: Maverick it’s as exciting as blockbusters.”

Peter Debruge, de Variety: “The commitment to film practically everything feels like the avant-garde equivalent of Hell’s Angelsby Howard Hughes, a film that made history”.

Justin Chang, de Los Angeles Times: “Tony Scott fans may miss that edge of disrepute, the unrepentantly vulgar sensibility that made the Top Gun original a dreamy and voluptuous howl. […] Women are few and far between, and even the most prominent receive mostly perfunctory treatment.”

Matt Singer, de Screen Crush: “The fights, chases and mid-air sequences are really remarkable, much clearer and much more intense than anything in the game. Top Gun original. […] Tom Cruise remains deeply ambivalent about the notion of passing the torch to a new generation on screen, so Top Gun: Maverick remains focused on Maverick and his story, sometimes to the detriment of the young cast.”
