What breakthrough infections mean for the further spread of the coronavirus

Mr. Wendtner, a celebrations in the US state of Massachusetts included a superspreader event in early July. The data on the infected people have now been processed and the amazing thing is evident: of 900 cases, almost 470 were already fully vaccinated – a very high rate of breakthrough infections. What does this mean for the reliability of vaccinations?
One has to look at this with caution. The study does not indicate which people developed breakthrough infections. It is quite possible that people who were vaccinated at an early age were mainly infected. Observations made so far show that elderly people or those with a weakened immune system are fully vaccinated for about six months. But while it sounds like a large number, there are very few breakthrough infections compared to the high number of people who have already been vaccinated in Massachusetts.
