Martinique is affected by the 5th wave of coronavirus confirms the prefect Stanislas Cazelles.

The latest figures published on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 by the Regional Health Agency, confirm the new progression of the coronavirus epidemic in Martinique. Between November 15 and 21, 2021, the numbers increase. 585 new cases identified.

The 5th wave is here, we have more than 100 people who are hospitalized for covid and nearly 600 are infected in the country. The first concern of the public official that I am, is to fight against the health crisis which has caused the situation in which we are and which continues to make Martinique suffer.

If for the moment Martinique is not undergoing an outbreak, over the weeks, new cases of contamination are more and more important.

♦ From 25 to 31 October : 411

♦ From November 1 to 7: 413

♦ From 8 to 14 November: 425

♦ From 15 to 21 November: 585 with an incidence rate of 163 (number of cases over 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants), against 95 the previous week.

To slow the progression of the virus in Martinique, the prefect could take new measures. Several choices would be under consideration after consultation with the local economic and political world.
