The players spoke: Because of the increasing number of hackers in Call of Duty: Warzone call on Activision Make changes to the cross-play model. Or: The console community just wants to play alone – without PC gamers. The cross-play system of the Battle Royale shooter distinguishes between PlayStation and Xbox. PlayStation players can disable cross-play on Warzone, Xbox players cannot.

Call of Duty is arguably one of the most popular video game franchises in history. Call of Duty: Warzone was the first step of the shooter franchise towards free-to-play and a complete success. Although it was originally a new mode for Modern Warfare (2019), it was adapted for Black Ops (2020), but is a stand-alone – free – mode. Either you play alone, in twos, threes or four.

Everything that is popular in the video game field has a lot of cheaters and hackers in the game at some point. Unfortunately, that is also the rule at Warzone. In order to save the “console gaming experience”, ask some players to turn off crossplay. On a seldom united front, Xbox and PlayStation players are calling for Activision to make changes to how cross-play is in the Call of Duty: Warzone undertakes.

Call of Duty: Warzone – No cross-play with PC, even for Xbox players

What PlayStation players have been able to do for a long time, Xbox players should soon be able to choose: No cross-play with PC players. On the PC platform in particular, it is easier for hackers to use their game-defining cheat tricks.

In a Reddit post posted user Sec0nd:

“The hacking is so bad right now. Every other game is just infested with scammers, both obvious and people trying to hide it.

Apparently it’s hard to get an anti-cheat so enable it [gemeint ist Activision] at least some kind of crossplay just for the console. Only as a temporary solution. The game is literally unplayable right now. We’ve seen moments in Warzone when cheating was rampant, but this time around it feels like we’re outnumbered.

I’ve played the game almost every day since it was released, but now I want to play something different until it’s fixed. “

Other players agreed and supported this decision. Other players ask for “consideration for the console community”. At the time of this writing, the post on the CODWarzone subreddit had over 2,800 up-votes and over 750 comments.

PC gamers see it differently

While most gamers agree that this is a good idea and a way to temporarily fix the issue, some PC gamers disagree that this is a good solution for two reasons. One reason for this is that the waiting times in the lobby can become too long overall. Or there are PC lobbies with no players.

Even well-known streamers have to activate 5 cameras for Call of Duty: Warzone to prove that they are not cheaters or hackers. But none of that helps if some programs are running in the background. Or it kills you any door in the game, it doesn’t always have to be a hacker.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available for Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC through Battle.net.
