Voting on the Development Plan in the Chamber and Senate continues

The director of National Planning, Jorge Iván González, thanked the congressmen for their work and said “I want to thank you for this work that has been quite demanding during these three months. And I thank the Treasury and National Planning teams, it has been a joint effort”.

Voting on the National Development Plan continued in the plenary sessions of the House and Senate this Wednesday, after the discussion that was brought forward on Tuesday. The Congress of the Republic met in its second day to approve the articleswhich contains 373 points, and had a deadline of May 7.

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives adjourned at around 8:00 pm, while the Senate continued until around 11:00 pm. At the end of the day both corporations they had approved about half of the articles.

Starting in the morning, the Senate began voting on elimination of some articles, such as the article 371which prohibited the exclusivity clauses in the contracting of advertising guidelines in the open television service.

The discussion also went on for a long time in thearticle 329 who wants President Gustavo Petro to have extraordinary powers for a term of six months to give development to the national forest service as part of the institutional framework of the environment and development sector. This also sank in the Senate.

On the side of the Chamber, it was article 8, referring to the conclusions of the Truth Commission, which especially stirred the debate. Among the most controversial points are proposals regarding the change in the election of the prosecutor. This one was saved.
