National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg has named the final squad for the European Championships in England (July 6th to 31st, 2022). A player from Hoffenheim can dream.
As the DFB announced on Saturday (June 18, 2022), Voss-Tecklenburg has dropped Martina Tufeković, Jana Feldkamp (both TSG Hoffenheim), Maximiliane Rall (FC Bayern Munich) and Sjoeke Nüsken (Eintracht Frankfurt) from the previously 28-strong squad .
Captain Alexandra Popp from VfL Wolfsburg is also in the squad. The most experienced national player with 113 international matches had to go into isolation after a positive corona test in preparation.
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg says: “In the end, only nuances decided, because the power density in our squad is very high.” Chantal Hagel (TSG Hoffenheim) can still hope for a place at the European Championships. As a precaution, she will be the 24th player to take part in the second training camp in Herzogenaurach (June 21-29).
The DFB women will play their only test match before the European Championships against Switzerland in Erfurt next Friday (5:00 p.m. / ZDF). In England, runners-up Denmark (July 8), title candidate Spain (July 12) and Finland (July 16) are the German group opponents.
