An analysis of scientific studies on the use of vibrators found that the medical benefits are so great that a doctor’s prescription would be warranted. This is reported by US researchers in the journal “Journal of Urology”. Studies had previously shown that masturbation can have positive effects on women’s physical and mental health. Again, regular use of a vibrator has been found to improve pelvic floor health, reduce vaginal pain, promote overall sexual health and help reduce stress.
Training the pelvic floor muscles with vibrators can also improve incontinence. In addition, vibrators improve orgasmic ability: they reduce the time it takes a woman to reach orgasm and support multiple orgasms.
dr Alexandra Dubinskaya of Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles presented the findings at the annual meeting of the American Society of Urology and concluded that vibrators should be viewed not just as sex toys but as therapeutic devices. She believes the time has come for pelvic floor medicine and reconstructive surgery specialists, as well as gynecologists and general practitioners, to start prescribing vibrators to their patients.
