New Corona case in the Bundesliga: Kevin Mbabu, 25, from Wolfsburg, tested positive for the virus in the mandatory tests before the start of the first training session. The Swiss is in domestic quarantine and missed VfL’s training kick-off on Saturday. “Kevin is currently symptom-free,” said sports director Marcel Schäfer. All other results of the test series were negative. In order to avoid contagions in the case that has now occurred, VfL had ensured that the players did not meet until the results were announced. “The process has proven itself,” said Schäfer. Since the positive test at Mbabu happened at the beginning of the preparation, the effects are minor. A positive result during the season could have had more serious consequences. By the start of the Bundesliga season in mid-September, Mbabu should be available to Wolfsburgers again. For the round of 16 second leg in the Europa League (August 5 in Kiev) against Shakhtar Donetsk, it should not be enough.
