Before that he played for the traditional club Galatasaray Istanbul, with which he won the Turkish championship twice. Calik played eight times for the Turkish national team, most recently in 2017.
Galatasaray wrote on Twitter: “It was with deep sadness that we learned of the death of our former footballer Ahmet Calik.” The club extends its condolences to the relatives. The Turkish Football Association and Sports Minister Mehmet Kasapoglu also expressed their condolences.
