VAR says no to Xherdan Shaqiri

After three straight wins, Chicago and Xherdan Shaqiri stalled. The Fire were held 0-0 by Atlanta at their home ground of Soldier Field.

A success would have allowed Chicago to find themselves for the first time since April 16 on the right side of the bar. Xherdan Shaqiri thought he was holding it well with his 58th-minute goal. The Balois chained control and shot, but his success was canceled by the VAR for an offside for which he was not responsible.

In legs, the Swiss international was responsible for most of his team’s dangerous actions. He hopes to find the way to victory next Saturday in Charlotte against an opponent who is also trying to switch to the right side of the bar.
