Uruguay and Paraguay qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2021 Copa America on Thursday, beating Bolivia in Cuiaba and Chile in Brasilia, respectively, by the same score of 2-0.
On the Uruguayan side, the opening of the scoring came on a cross from Giorgian De Arrascaeta deflected by the Bolivian defender Jairo Quinteros then by his goalkeeper Carlos Lampe, scorer against his side (40th). Edinson Cavani then doubled the bet (79th). Paraguay, for its part, defeated Chile, which had already qualified, thanks to a header from Braian Samudio (33rd) and a penalty from Miguel Almiron (58th).
Behind Argentina, which dominates this group A with 7 points, are Paraguay (6 points), Chile (5) and Uruguay (4). The top four from each group of five advance to the quarterfinals. Bolivia, which has no points, is however already eliminated one day from the end of the group.
The last day of this group, scheduled for Monday evening, includes a Paraguay-Uruguay poster in Rio de Janeiro. The main stake is to know who will finish in 4th place, which guarantees Brazil as a quarterback opponent. It will be Uruguay if they lose or draw. If Celeste wins, 4th place will go to Chile.
