University of Porto student accuses professor of sexual abuse, blackmail and rape

The student reported the abuse to the direction of the Faculty of Letters a few days after filing a complaint with the PSP. A disciplinary procedure has already been opened.

The student told SIC, without wanting to record the testimony, that she was coerced into having sex with a teacher.

The alleged abuses began in September and took place over 8 months, in the teacher’s office and in the student’s home.

In the young woman’s version, the professor made threats that he would harm her grades and even expel her from college if she did not agree to have sex with him.

She also says that in February she discovered that she was pregnant and that she told the teacher that she did not want to interrupt the pregnancy.

It alleges that he reacted with violence and that weeks later she had a miscarriage. In March, in the student’s version, she was raped by the teacher in the apartment where she lived.

The 20-year-old woman, a foreigner, admitted to SIC that she suffers from psychological problems and that she never told anyone what was happening, out of fear. She decided to cancel the registration and leave the country, after denouncing the situation.

The lawyer representing the professor says that the accusations are completely false and that he does not yet know the content of the complaints. Augusto Ínsua Pereira, speaking to SIC, underlines that the professor wants to collaborate as soon as possible in the investigation to demonstrate that he is being the target of a cabal.

The case has already been transferred from the PSP to the Porto Judiciary Police.
