Dr. Hisham Shawqi Masoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Sharqia, said that the medical teams working within the President’s initiative to support the health of the mother and fetus, have provided medical services and conducted the necessary examinations for more than 66,000 pregnant women, since the launch of the presidential initiative late last December.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry explained that the medical teams in the initiative have provided medical services to 69,067 pregnant women in Sharkia Governorate so far, noting that the initiative aims to reach a generation of children with good health and free of diseases transmitted from mother to fetus, and to reduce deaths resulting from those diseases, as it aims Pregnant women from the first day of pregnancy until birth, for early detection of various infectious diseases transmitted from the mother to the fetus and all diseases that can affect the health of the fetus to prevent its transmission, in addition to the detection of sugar and pressure for pregnant women.
He added that follow-up and treatment services are provided through medical centers and health units in the governorate, and those who are discovered to be infected are directed and referred to receive the necessary evaluation and treatment in the referral hospitals specified in the governorate, according to the type of disease the mother has, in addition to activating and improving the quality of routine services they provide within the protocol for the care of pregnant women from During the maternity and childhood care services, he indicated that the medical clinics and examination places were well equipped, and that medical supplies were available, stressing the medical teams’ privacy of examination places, confidentiality of results, good treatment of women and a good reception for those who frequent the presidential initiative.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health explained that the presidential initiative to support maternal and fetal health targets the medical examination of 102,700 pregnant women, both Egyptian and non-Egyptian, in the cities and villages of Sharkia Governorate, in the age group above 18 years, between education, awareness and medical examination, through a trained medical team on examination work from « Doctors, nurses, data entry operators, and rural pioneers.” The number of teams is 358 medical teams, in a number of 358 points.
