Russia correspondent Iris de Graaf:
“In the short term, there is not much to expect. It is still unclear what those possible talks should look like. The negotiator said that Ukraine may be able to start talks with Russia at the end of August, but only with a strengthened negotiating position. that Ukraine expects to reach that position before the end of August.
Since the end of the negotiations, Russia has blamed Kiev for the failed negotiations. The Kremlin says it’s Zelensky who won’t talk. Zelensky says he does not want to talk until Russia withdraws from Ukraine, at least from the areas before the invasion. The sides remain diametrically opposed as the fighting continues.”
