An airplane crashed on the A66. Two people died. The aircraft is said to have crashed into a tree when approaching the airfield in Gelnhausen.
When a light aircraft crashed near Gelnhausen in southeast Hesse, two people were killed on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses reported that the plane fell steeply at around 2:25 p.m. in the town about 45 kilometers from Frankfurt. The fatalities are the two inmates.
According to a police spokesman, the plane crashed into larger bushes on an embankment for an initially unknown cause. Possibly it was on the approach to a nearby airfield for gliders and light aircraft.
Emergency umbrella did not open
The small explosive charge for an emergency parachute for the entire aircraft did not appear to have detonated, said the police spokesman. Defuser from the Hessian State Criminal Police Office had brought them to a controlled explosion on the ground.

According to the police spokesman, one victim was 53 years old and lived in nearby Wächtersbach. The other, 67-year-old victim lived in Alzenau in Lower Franconia.
According to the police, there was no impact on the nearby A66 or the railway line. The “Offenbach Post” reported about it first.
