Lawrence Naesen broke several ribs on Sunday in the Tro-Bro Léon (1.Pro), a cycling race between Plouguerneau and Lannilis over 204.1 kilometers in France. He suffered these injuries after being hit by a team car, the AG2R-Citroën Team cyclist confirmed on Twitter on Tuesday evening.
The 30-year-old rider had to abandon the race after being knocked down by a Groupama-FDJ car. He had reacted in the evening on Twitter by questioning the driver. “Thank you and congratulations on winning the driver’s license in a package from Kellogg’s, Frédéric Guesdon“, wrote Naesen.
Tuesday evening, the brother of former Belgian champion Oliver Naesen simply announced that he had broken ribs, without saying more about the duration of his unavailability.
