## Executive Summary
Stage 18 time trial narrows Vuelta lead as Küng wins by two seconds and Roglič closes in on Mas.

## Intelligence Brief
The stage, a decisive individual time trial, reshaped the general classification as Roglič’s performance brought him into second place, narrowing the distance to Mas and heightening the pressure on the race leader. Küng’s win came by a margin of two seconds over his nearest rival, a performance highlighted by Cycling Weekly and Yahoo Sports quoting the rider’s focus on victory regardless of margin. Roglič’s strong ride trimmed the time deficit to Mas, moving him into second place in the general classification, as reported by Cyclingnews and La Vuelta.

The time gains were enough to shift the standings but not to overturn Mas’s lead. Mas’s ability to hold the red jersey despite Roglič’s fast time illustrates the tight contest, with the Slovenian rider needing to rely on upcoming stages to overturn the small deficit. BBC’s brief note mentions the gap closure but provides no detail on the time differences.

In contrast, Cyclingnews includes a comment from Roglič’s team about the race not being over, suggesting optimism without concrete data. How the remaining riders will respond to the tightened leaderboard is still open.
