## Executive Summary
Sudden Iranian missile and drone strikes on Bahrain and Kuwait shatter a month‑long calm after a U.S. hit on an Iranian target.

## Intelligence Brief
The surprise is that Iran’s missile and drone barrage arrived immediately after a month‑long lull following a U.S. strike, turning a period of relative calm into urgent alarm. The trigger was a U.S. military strike on an Iranian target, the first direct engagement in a month, according to reports linking the escalation to a hit on a U.S. base in Jordan.

That action appears to have prompted Tehran to launch missiles and drones at its Gulf neighbours, extending the fight beyond the original U.S.–Iran interaction and drawing Kuwait and Bahrain into the hostilities. AP News notes that Iran fired on its Gulf neighbours after the U.S. strike, while Bahrain’s officials say the missile and drone attacks deliberately targeted civilians.

The Times of Israel recorded the September 1 incidents in Kuwait and Bahrain following the Jordan base hit, and Middle East Eye described the sirens that rang throughout Bahrain. thenationalnews.com adds that the clash now expands into broader fighting with the United States. Coverage leaves the question open of how regional powers, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, will respond to the widening confrontation.
