The Padres’ surprise promotion of 20‑year‑old top prospect Ethan Salas is shaking up roster plans and fantasy leagues alike.

## Intelligence Brief
The San Diego Padres are promoting 20‑year‑old catcher Ethan Salas to the major‑league roster, a move that defies the typical age curve for MLB debuts. Salas, ranked No. 23 among all baseball prospects, leaps from the minors directly into a major‑league role in what coverage described as a massive roster move, prompting immediate attention from fans and analysts alike. MLB.com, Sports Illustrated and the San Diego Union‑Tribune confirmed the call‑up, while Yahoo Sports highlighted his prospect ranking.

An MLB.com analysis linked the promotion to the recent roster expansion, suggesting the timing aligns with broader team adjustments. Coverage does not detail Salas’s expected playing time or whether he will immediately assume starting duties. The decision arrives amid speculation about roster strategy, leaving observers to watch how the young catcher fits into San Diego’s lineup and whether his promotion triggers further moves.
