## Executive Summary
Russian missiles reduced Kyiv’s famed book market to ash, killing at least seven and scorching millions of volumes.

## Intelligence Brief
Russia described the raid as the biggest Ukrainian attack of the year. Reuters documented millions of burnt books, calling the loss a tangible sign of a 'war of endurance' that wounds Ukraine’s cultural heritage. BBC reporters arrived on the scene to film the charred aisles and interview witnesses, while Ukrainian National News reported that the office of the Nash Format publishing house adjacent to the market was also heavily damaged.

UA.NEWS added that a fire sparked in the Darnytskyi District was quickly extinguished by local fire crews. Kyiv authorities are now conducting a detailed assessment of the damage to the publishing sector and the broader book market, while emergency services continue to monitor fire risks in the surrounding neighborhoods. City officials said they will compile casualty figures and coordinate with international partners on reconstruction assistance.

The next public briefings are expected to outline plans for restoring the Petrivka market and supporting displaced booksellers in the coming weeks.
