## Executive Summary
Utah remains a national hotspot for measles despite recent reports indicating the outbreak's transmission rate is slowing.

## Intelligence Brief
As of July 28, 2026, the measles outbreak in Utah has reached 663 confirmed cases. While the latest data suggests a deceleration in the spread of the virus, the state maintains its status as a primary location for the disease nationwide. The Salt Lake Tribune and KSL.com have released mapping tools intended to identify the specific geographic areas experiencing the highest infection density within the state.

Coverage from Axios identifies a range of medical complications associated with the outbreak, including pneumonia, dehydration, sepsis, and shock. Concurrently, CBS News reports that the current situation continues to affect families directly, citing instances where relatives remain unable to meet newborns due to the health risks presented by the environment. While state-level data suggests the transmission momentum is shifting, details regarding specific localized containment strategies or the projected duration of these high-risk conditions are not yet specified.

It is unclear how long health authorities will maintain current public health maps, and information regarding the expected timeline for a full return to standard hospital visitation protocols for vulnerable infants remains unavailable.
