## Executive Summary
Ukraine’s strike on an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea sparks a diplomatic flashpoint, with Tehran accusing Kyiv of a criminal act and hinting at retaliation.

## Intelligence Brief
The strike was confirmed by multiple sources and quickly labeled by Tehran as a “hostile and criminal act.” The incident places the Iranian navy and its personnel at immediate risk while drawing Kyiv into a new maritime dispute. Reuters, the Times of Israel, Defense News, the Financial Times and CNBC all reported the event, echoing statements from Iran’s foreign minister that the attack “cannot go unanswered.” Iranian officials further asserted the strike was carried out at Israel’s behest, framing the episode as part of a broader geopolitical contest.

The coverage notes that the vessel’s sinking left one sailor dead and that Iranian authorities are mobilizing diplomatic channels to address the incident. Iran’s Ministry of Defense also warned of a proportionate response, though no specific timeline was provided.
