## Executive Summary
Seven Save A Lot grocery stores have permanently shuttered across Chicago's South and West sides, leaving residents searching for new food sources.

## Intelligence Brief
Shoppers on Chicago's South and West sides face immediate uncertainty regarding access to groceries following the abrupt closure of seven Save A Lot locations. Residents describe the sudden loss of these retail sites as a significant challenge for local food security, noting that existing options in the neighborhoods are now more limited. The closures followed the termination of a partnership between Save A Lot and the operator Yellow Banana.

According to The Business Journals and ABC7 Chicago, the dissolution of this agreement occurred without a new deal to sustain operations, leading to the permanent cessation of business at the affected sites by Saturday. Patch previously indicated that these stores were at risk due to financial instability before the final shutdowns were confirmed. Coverage from outlets including the Chicago Sun-Times and Block Club Chicago documents the local reaction to the sudden storefront vacancies.

It is currently unclear how or when the space formerly occupied by these retailers will be utilized, or if alternate grocery providers will be identified to mitigate the impact of the closures.
