## Executive Summary
Apple is set to release its first water-resistant iPad in the second half of 2026, marking a notable hardware shift for the tablet lineup.

## Intelligence Brief
The second half of 2026 marks the scheduled release window for Apple's first water-resistant iPad. Beyond water resistance, coverage from outlets including 9to5Mac and MacRumors indicates that the upcoming product cycle will feature significant upgrades to the iPad mini. Specific technical details discussed in reports point to the inclusion of an 8.4-inch OLED display, though some sources note the panel may maintain a 60Hz refresh rate.

These changes appear aimed at refreshing a device segment often described in trade reporting as underrated. Potential buyers are being advised to hold off on current iPad mini purchases in light of the impending product refresh. Current retail cycles suggest the October timeframe as a primary focal point for these hardware adjustments, impacting consumers who prioritize display technology and device durability.

Attention now shifts to the official unveiling of the hardware lineup. While specifications regarding the exact level of water resistance are not yet detailed in public filings, the broader market anticipation centers on the October event to confirm the final feature set for both the standard and mini models.
