## Executive Summary
Disney's live-action 'Moana' remake faces critical backlash and a weak box office debut, marking a low point in the studio's remake trend.

## Intelligence Brief
The live-action remake of 'Moana' has debuted to negative critical reception and poor financial performance. According to Variety, the film earned $43 million in its domestic debut, while Yahoo reports a global opening weekend of $95 million.

Other outlets describe the opening as one of the weakest among Disney's live-action remakes. Coverage from BBC, AP News, and the Los Angeles Times emphasizes a perceived lack of heart and originality, with some critics calling the film a "lifeless carbon copy." The WSJ and Animation Magazine highlight the film's failure to compete with other animated titles like 'Toy Story 5' and 'Minions & Monsters.'
