German surfers Tim Elter and Spanish surfer Annette Gonzalez Etxabarri won the Morocco Mall Junior Pro Casablanca on Sunday, the first stage of the Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) 2023 of the World Surf League (WSL) Europe.
“The 19-year-old German surfer, born in the Canary Islands and partially residing in France, has been taking part in the junior tour for 6 years but has not been talked about much until now. It is now done with an impressive week and 6 consecutive victories to reach the top step of the podium ”, can we read in a press release from the WSL. “Frankly I don’t really believe in it yet,” he said, quoted in the statement, adding, “I’ve been competing for a while and I’ve had some good results but I’ve never managed to pass the playoffs one-on-one. Once I won my quarter-final I started to believe that I could go all the way. I am really super happy with this result today”. “In the final, Elter dominated from start to finish and left little room for his opponent.
