The plot introduces us to Blanquita, an 18-year-old girl who lives in a foster home. There she witnesses a scandal involving children, politicians and rich men who participate in sex parties. However, the more questions are asked, the less clear is Blanquita’s role in the scandal.
“It was one of the most turbulent and confusing cases in Chilean judicial, political and journalistic history in the last 15 years.“, recalls the director. “After delving into the details of the case, through exhaustive investigation of numerous sources such as news, case files, court files and interviews, There was a character in this damn story that fascinated me the most: Gema Bueno, the key witness, the minor, Gema Malo. A twenty-year-old girl who divided public opinion and kept the nation on edge for nine months. She ended up behind bars, but society was torn apart by her case.”

“This story is inspired by those events, but I have turned it into a melodrama in which the media plays an important role in portraying the tragedy of the victims., the murders and the abuse of minors by powerful people”, he assures. “In this case, nothing is what it seems. This film is a work of fiction that extracts factual elements from the case and is presented as a stand-alone story that could have taken place in many different countries.”
‘Blanquita’ has achieved important recognitions at film festivals. Recently, it won the prestigious Colón de Oro for Best Film at the last edition of the Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival.
