Classic cars are in fashion, both to enjoy driving them and to take them as an investment alternative. That is also why many brands have decided to revive some of their historical models.
In this case, it is a small company that has decided to re-produce one of the Ferrari most remembered in all history: the Testarossa.
It is a model, designed by Pininfarina, which bore that name because it had the timing covers of its V12 engine painted red. And in honor of a homonymous model from the late 50s.
In this Ferrari Testarossa the rear view mirror located only on the driver’s side is preserved.
La Testarossa is without a doubt one of the most remembered Ferrari models of all times. To this contribute his spectacular figure, with a height of just 1.1 meters, and for his role in Miami Vice, one of the best known TV series of the 80s.
Recreate the myth
It is now the Officine Fioravanti company (despite its Italian name it is located in Switzerland) which revives this coupe with a recreation faithful to the original design but with mechanical improvements, since the power has been increased compared to the model introduced in 1984.
The unit chosen to present this project is precisely from that year, which carries the unmistakable aesthetic nod of having only the rear-view mirror on the driver’s side.
The retractable headlights are reproduced on this Ferrari Testarossa.
It also includes some monotut wheels, 17 inches at the front and 18 at the rear. For the tires you can choose between three options: Michelin 4, 4S or Pirelli Trofeo R.
The characteristic retractable headlights that blend into the spectacular lines defined by Pininfarina, with the unmistakable side air intakes.
Compared to the original model, there are some material improvements and updates. For example, part of the body panels, the interior and some elements of the chassis are made of carbon fiber, which allows it to weigh 1,380 kilos, 130 lighter than the 1984 Testarossa.
The interior recreates the 80s atmosphere of the original Ferrari Testarossa, but with the peculiarity of the telephone.
Mechanics keep the iconic 180 degree flat V12 engine (with opposite cylinders, although not a boxer as such), but with increased power. This new millennium Testarossa delivers 510 hp at 9,000 rpm (120 more).
That power allows you to reach the 323 km / h top speed, more than 30 km / h higher than the original model registration.
That improvement was achieved with a new fuel injection mapping. In addition, 6-position adjustable stabilizer bars were added both front and rear, as well as electronically controlled dampers, which can modify the height of the horn by up to 70 millimeters.
The design of the original Ferrari Testarossa was the work of the Pininfarina design studio.
Also added were Brembo brakes, an improved flat bottom and an ABS system with 12 different modes, which can even be deactivated completely.
The interior recreates the atmosphere of the 80s, with a leather cabin, with classic analog instrumentation Borletti vigil, physical buttons for the glass lifters and the usual gear lever.
What is striking about the interior in this Testarossa is the inclusion of a telephone on the right side of the center console, with buttons and an ’80s look. This device can be connected to smartphone via Bluetooth.
At the moment, it has not been detailed from when the interested parties will be able to order one or what its price will be or what number of units will be manufactured.
