A group of people gathered on the night of Sunday, October 10, in front of the Toledo Cathedral to pray the rosary as “reparation” after the controversial and sensual music video “Atheist”, by C Tangana, recorded inside the temple.
The EFE agency recorded the moment of prayer in which about 30 people gathered in front of the Primate Cathedral of Toledo to pray the rosary and carry a lit candle.
The attendees stood in a circle to pray and, according to the agency, they did not want to make repairs, they only affirmed that it was an intimate and reparative act in relation to the music video of C. Tangana and Nathy Peluso in which sensual scenes were filmed inside the temple.
Last Thursday, October 7, the music video of C. Tangana and Nathy Peluso entitled “Ateo” was published. In the music video, sensual scenes recorded inside the Primate Cathedral of Spain are developed.
The recording had the authorization of the dean of the Cathedral of Toledo, Fr. Juan Miguel Ferrer.
On Friday, October 8, the Dean of the Cathedral, after the controversy raised on social networks, published a statement in which he assured that “the video presents the story of a conversion through human love. The lyrics of the song specify ‘I was an atheist, but now I believe because a miracle like you had to come down from heaven’ “.
In the statement, the Dean also regretted “certain attitudes of intolerance” because “it is contrary to the understanding and acceptance of the Church as manifested in the final sequences of the video.”
A few hours after the statement from the Dean of the Cathedral was published, on October 8, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Toledo, Bishop Francisco Cerro, apologized for the “improper use” of the Cathedral for the recording of the music video. by C Tangana.
In the Archbishop’s statement it was specified that Bishop Cerro “was absolutely unaware of the existence of this project, its content and the final result.”
“The Archbishop deeply regrets these events and disapproves of the images recorded in the first temple of the diocese,” the statement said.
In a statement published on Saturday, October 9, the Archbishop of Toledo called an act of reparation.
“Following recent events, I want to join this celebration [apertura de la fase diocesana del Sínodo] an invitation to conversion, reparation for sins and purification that this time of grace and interior renewal requires, and that we will carry out in a special penitential act of the Mass ”, assured the Archbishop.
