Dr. German Pagno is the new dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of the Northeast (Unne). He was unanimously elected and will replace Gerardo Omar Larroza, candidate for Unne’s rector.
The 16 members of the Board of Directors elected Pagno, who will preside over Medicine until 2026 with the possibility of being re-elected for another four years. The ruling party remains firm and with broad support in the Faculty. In the elections for councillors, the ruling party, chaired by Larroza, obtained more than 80 percent support in votes.
Larroza served as dean for two terms and could no longer continue to lead the institution. The former dean is one of the candidates to replace Delfina Veiravé in the Unne rectorate. According to the figures, the doctor would have an advantage over his main competitors: María Viviana Godoy Guglielmone, from Facena, and the current Academic Secretary of Unne, Verónica Torres.
By tacit agreement in the Unne, the next eight years the rectory should be directed by a professional from Corrientes. The election will be held in mid-June.
