After two seasons at Olympique de Marseille, Matteo Guendouzi left the Marseille club to join Lazio Rome.

Matteo Guendouzi had undoubtedly imagined another end. Two years after his arrival at Olympique de Marseille from Arsenal, the French international was indeed pushed out by the Olympian leaders. While he hoped to continue the adventure with Ciel et Blanc, the former Gunner had to resolve to join Lazio Rome, where he was loaned with an obligation to buy 18 million euros.

But before leaving, the vice-world champion wrote a vibrant farewell to Marseille. “From this July 6, 2021 was born love at first sight. A sincere love at first sight, driven by a common passion with you, supporters, he wrote on social media. Two years of passion, madness, sharing, also complex moments that I was able to experience with a certain modesty and constant support… yours. Marseille, extraordinary city. Here, the one who disembarks one day on the port, he is necessarily at home. Wherever we come from, we are at home in Marseille.”

“I leave having given everything, playing in this Orange Vélodrome Stadium was an honor, a motivation, an incredible strength, he continued before launching into thanks. To all the groups of supporters, THANK YOU. To all the technical staff, volunteers, club employees, your precious presence is a strength and for that, THANK YOU. Finally, a big THANK YOU to Olympique de Marseille and my teammates to whom I wish the best. These two years were incredibly intense. Thank you. To you supporters, continue to bring OM to life everywhere. Take care of yourself and beautiful season. Forever the first. »
