Clément Lenglet has established himself as a major element of FC Barcelona. However, his contractual situation is more like that of a simple replacement.

Fifth most used player this season in FC Barcelona, Clement Lenglet ended up being the holder both with Ernesto Valverde and then with Quique Setien who preferred him however Samuel umtiti on arrival. The reality is that Lenglet (38 appearances this season) pairs up with Gerard Pique in central defense.

A situation that is not reflected at the salary level since, for example, he receives a salary four times lower than that of Samuel Umtiti (about 3 million against almost 12 million according to the daily AS). The more general situation places it in fact in 17th place of the salaries of the locker room.

The management, who are very keen on the defender bought from Sevilla against 35 million two years ago, should quickly step into action to correct, at least in part, this gap. The two parties have reportedly already launched negotiations. And despite the financial difficulties linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, immediately after the extension of Ter Stegen, it is the case of Lenglet who should be at the top of the bill.
