The symbol opera of the Verona Opera Festival: Verdi’s “Aida”

VERONA. Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece “Aida” will be performed on 11 evenings starting June 18th in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic staging, which creates a golden, illusionary ancient Egypt. The magnificent costumes bear the signature of Anna Anni. The musical directors are Daniel Oren and Marco Armiliato.

“Aida” is the “Queen of Operas” and symbol of the Opera Festival. The story is tied to the Roman amphitheater more than any other opera, because the first performance on August 10, 1913 laid the foundation for the opera festival in Verona.

Ancient Egypt comes to life against the backdrop of the Roman Arena, and Verdi’s immensely lyrical and dramatic composition draws to its dramatic finale in the spectacular setting of the Arena in Verona. Pure mysticism!
