The mayor of Urban Planning in the Talavera de la Reina City Council, Benedicto García, has made it clear that the government team “has the commitment” to solve in this legislature the problems that cause incidents when it rains heavily, “and these incidents are repeated at the same points that have been occurring during the last four years ».

This was announced at a press conference after the Governing Board, where he explained that last night both the mayor, José Julián Gregorio, and the mayor of the Environment, David Moreno; the Councilor for Citizen Security Macarena Muñoz, and himself, together with the person in charge of the Aqualia company, were visiting all the points where an incident was generated by DANA “to analyze possible solutions and carry them out.”

“From this government team we commit ourselves little by little and throughout the legislature to carry out the actions that are necessary to solve the problems caused by the rains, which are always the same.”

Regarding the passage of the DANA through the city and according to the data provided by the Junta and Civil Protection, “its effects are subsiding.” García has commented that, although the police had many inquiries, 30 incident actions were counted and some streets had to be closed, such as Carpinteros, Carnicerías, Comercio, Santo Domingo and Capitán Cortés and the Calera highway.

The mayor thanked the police for their involvement, since, he explained, the night shift began its services before and the afternoon shift ended later “precisely to cover all the incidents that there were.”

A special brigade of general services was also activated with the supply of pumps to drain the problematic points, “which are those that have been repeated during the last four years.” Specifically, in Ronda de los Andes with Paseo de Filipinas, Calle Comercio, Carnicerías, Ronda del Cañillo, Carpinteros and Calle Paralela in the neighborhood of Nuestra Señora del Prado. This incident is new, according to the city council, since the ADIF wall is being built and there has been a damming of water due to not having an adequate outlet.

A garage in the Plaza de la Cruz Verde has also been flooded, “which is currently being relieved”, to which is added some incidence in Talavera la Nueva. «The incidents have occurred in the same points as four years ago and our commitment is to find solutions and fix it”, Benedicto García reiterated.

With regard to the firefighters, the mayor commented that they had “a very busy night”, especially serving various roads, and he was grateful that the damage caused by DANA was material: “Fortunately there have been no personal ones.”

The person in charge of Urbanism has assured that this morning “all the streets were open to traffic”. However, he specified that in Alfares street there were accumulations of water due to the effects of the work itself, since the entire street had to be milled; Aqualia was notified and the water was released and the workers are currently working.

Benedicto García ended by thanking the National and Local Police, firefighters, Civil Protection and the workers of the City Council for General Services and Cleaning for the “impeccable work” they did yesterday.

For her part, the deputy spokesperson of the Government team, Gelen Delgado, has announced the issues dealt with in the Local Government Board, where the programming of the San Mateo 2023 Fairs has been approved, from September 21 to 24 and the The 25th will be Children’s Day.

The fairs will have an amusement area, with days without noise for children, concerts in the Plaza de la Juventud and in the Plaza de la Comarca, and with the municipal booth that will be managed by a non-profit association.
