The dream of an independent Credit Suisse was naïve: now UBS can make its dream come true
Now the die has been cast: CS Switzerland will not become independent, but fully integrated.

It happened as it had to: Credit Suisse was fully integrated into UBS and disappeared. Actually, that was clear from the start. Already in the days after the historic Sunday of March 19, when the end of the once so proud big bank was sealed, the signals from the carpeted floors of the UBS headquarters were clear: Even then, there was nothing to do with a spin-off of CS Switzerland. Rather, it was about “building a bigger UBS”, as Ralph Hamers, who has since been sacked, put it: “Build a bigger UBS.”
