Pediatrician of the highest category, candidate of medical sciences Marina Mamaeva said that the production of vitamin D in the skin occurs only during movement. This is reported by the TV channel “Star”.
“There is a certain condition that people don’t know about. Vitamin D is only produced in the body when we move. This is the law. When people lie in the sun, simply immobilized on the beach, this is an absolutely useless procedure, ”the expert emphasized.
Outdoor games and sports are beneficial for vitamin D production, she said, for both children and adults.
Mamaeva clarified that it is enough to be in the sun for about 30-40 minutes a day to get the required dose of provitamin D, which is the precursor of the sun vitamin. After that, transformations of this metabolite take place inside the body, the doctor added.
The expert also noted that vitamin D is practically unable to accumulate, the substance is quickly consumed by the body.
