That’s why damsons and plums have a white coating – just don’t eat them

So you just have to wash off the white layer with lukewarm water immediately before you eat. It is advisable to remove the layer because pollutants from the air may have collected in it. If the layer is stubborn, you can polish the fruit with a damp kitchen towel.

What is the difference between plum and damson?

Even though prunes and prunes are often used synonymously, they are two different varieties. The damson is a subspecies of the plum, which is oblong-oval in shape and smaller than the plum.

Plums tend to be plump and have a round stone. There is also a difference in colour: in addition to dark blue, plums are also available in red, yellow and green.

Can plums be frozen too?

Depending on the variety, fresh plums and damsons can be stored in the refrigerator for two to three days, but no more than a week. Pitted fruit can be frozen and can then be stored for up to a year.
