Fortnite has not been playable on the iPhone for almost two years. This has changed now.

- Fortnite disappeared from the App Store in August 2020.

- This is possible thanks to Microsoft’s free cloud streaming.
Apple dropped Fortnite from the App Store in August 2020. The reason was that developer Epic Games had tried to circumvent the payment rules with a trick.
The Cupertino-based company wants 30 percent of the revenue for transactions via its platforms. That was Epic too much. The result was a lengthy court case – the game has since been unavailable on iOS and iPadOS devices.
Fortnite playable thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming
This has changed now. In a roundabout way, the shooter ended up back on Apple devices. The reason for this is the streaming service Xbox Cloud Gaming from Microsoft.
Fortnite has been available to play for free via this service since last Thursday. Anyone with a compatible device or browser is good to go. This also includes the iPhone and Co.
Even the CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, promoted the offer on Twitter.
