Talks between Lamar Jackson and Ravens are coming to an end

Munich/Baltimore – It’s been a long wait for Lamar Jackson. The quarterback has been negotiating a new contract with the Baltimore Ravens since last year’s offseason.

Most recently, Jackson even set a deadline. If there is no new contract by the start of the season, he will not play. Concerns spread throughout Maryland.

However, there seems to have been a breakthrough in the negotiations. Even the approximate salary modalities should already be known.

Probably top 5 contract in the NFL

At least according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, he said, “I think Kyler Murray’s contract with the Arizona Cardinals is the minimum of Jackson’s new deal.” After his extension a few weeks ago, Murray is making $230.5 million on the new contract, with $160 million guaranteed.

“We’re on the right track,” Jackson told reporters a few days ago at training camp when asked about his contract situation.

Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers currently leads in terms of annual salary (50.2 million), while Deshaun Watson collects the most money (230 million) in terms of guaranteed money. So it is likely that Lamar Jackson’s new contract falls into these spheres.

The quarterback will be a free agent next March 2023 if there is no deal by the start of the season. The Ravens will then most likely use their franchise tag on him, but everyone involved wants to avoid this scenario at all costs.
