Escalation of conflict between China and Taiwan

China is using a military exercise that was a protest against the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to prepare for an invasion of Taiwan. This was stated by Taiwanese Foreign Minister Joseph Wu at a press conference in Taipei.

“China used the exercises in its military strategy to prepare for the invasion of Taiwan. They are conducting large-scale military exercises and missile launches, as well as cyberattacks, disinformation and economic coercion in an attempt to dampen public morale in Taiwan,” Wu was quoted as saying by Reuturs.

The minister notes that the date of China’s invasion of Taiwan is not yet known, but Taiwan will not be intimidated, “even if the exercises continue, and China often violates the unofficial median line along the Taiwan Strait.” He called on other countries for international support to prevent China from effectively controlling the strait.

Earlier, Beijing clarified that the pulling of troops to the island of Taiwan will continue after live-fire exercises. According to them, the command of the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China said that the upcoming exercises should prepare for the operations of “joint blockade” of the island of Taiwan.
