Primera División – Real Madrid and Barcelona lose – Sport

The two Spanish top clubs Real Madrid and FC Barcelona suffered surprising defeats one after the other on Saturday. Champions and leaders Real lost with 0: 1 (0: 1) against newly promoted FC Cadiz, Barcelona failed a little later with a 0: 1 (0: 0) at Getafe. Jaime Mata (56th) scored a penalty against the Barça team around world footballer Lionel Messi, who still fell into ninth place with seven points. Getafe climbed to second place – ahead of Cadiz. In the Champions League, Barcelona will play against Ferencváros Budapest on Tuesday.

Real is challenged in the premier class on Wednesday against Shakhtar Donetsk – the dress rehearsal failed strongly. Coach Zinédine Zidane made four changes during the break. Anthony Lozano (16th minute) scored the only goal of the game. Real’s German international Toni Kroos was replaced in the 78th minute. After the Champions League, the Primera División will face the Clásico between Barcelona and Real next weekend.

Atlético Madrid meanwhile managed a successful dress rehearsal for the start of the Champions League at Bayern. Four days before the match in Munich, coach Diego Simeone’s team won 2-0 (1-0) at Celta Vigo. Luis Suárez, who moved from FC Barcelona to Madrid in the summer, scored on Saturday in the sixth minute after a nice combination to give the Rojiblancos the lead – his third goal in the fourth league game for Atlético. Vigos Sergio Carreira hit the post in the first half in the penalty area (26th). Yannick Carrasco (90. + 5) scored the goal for the final score shortly before the end.

Cycling – Ganna wins Giro prelude – sport

Time trial world champion Filippo Ganna won the first stage of the 103rd Giro d’Italia in his specialty, making the 24-year-old Italian the first to wear the pink jersey. Rick Zabel from Unna managed a small coup: The son of German sprint legend Erik Zabel wore the mountain jersey. Ineos driver Ganna only needed 15:24 minutes for the largely downhill 15.1 km from Monreale to Palermo, which corresponds to an average speed of 58.831 km / h. Ganna was 22 seconds faster than the Portuguese Joao Almeida (Deceuninck-Quick Step) and the Dane Mikkel Bjerg (UAE – Team Emirates). Former tour winner Geraint Thomas (Great Britain / Ineos), who was considered a top favorite, finished fourth, 23 seconds behind.

The best of the five Germans in the field was Nico Denz (Waldshut-Tiengen), the Sunweb driver was 21st, 55 seconds behind. Zabel was only 121st (+1: 59 minutes), but the 26-year-old won the only mountain classification . The stage was overshadowed by the heavy fall of Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana), who crashed into a grille in a strong crosswind. The 26-year-old was taken to hospital for further examinations.

Basketball – Olympics probably without NBA players – sport

The Olympic basketball tournament in Tokyo in the summer of 2021 may have to take place without NBA stars. “We will consider it. I think it is ultimately unlikely that we would stop for the Olympic Games if the league started late,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on the sidelines of the second final game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat (124: 114) on Friday.

The current NBA season was interrupted in March due to the corona crisis and only resumed in late July. According to Silver, the next season will not start before Christmas and will not end when the postponed summer games start on July 23, 2021.

The considerations are not only about a break during the games, as Silver explained, but also an early release of national players for training camps and a break after the Tokyo trip. The NBA boss admitted that this decision would hit the teams outside of the US hard, “because some of their stars are in our league and their absence would make a big difference to these national teams.”

Second division – Paderborn still without a win – sport

The start is difficult, Bundesliga relegated SC Paderborn remains without a win after three game days. Jahn Regensburg moved up to sixth after the 1-0 (1-0) win against Karlsruher SC.

The Paderborns, plagued by injury concerns, won the first point in the 0-0 win in Heidenheim, but are in 16th place in the table. The guests had to do without the long-injured players Chima Okoroji, Sven Michel and Maximilian Thalhammer and delivered a solid performance in a balanced game.

Last year’s twelfth Jahn Regensburg remained undefeated in the third game of the season and came 1-0 (1-0) through Andreas Albers’ goal (44th) and benefited from the fact that Philipp Hofmann hit the keeper with a penalty in the 51st minute Alexander Meyer failed. In the final phase, the hosts were missing Benedikt Gimber, who received the yellow-red card in the 81st minute.

FC St. Pauli and VfL Bochum had already missed the leap to the top of the table on Friday evening. The Hamburgers lost 0-1 at SV Sandhausen. Bochum did not win in the 0-0 win against VfL Osnabrück either in the second home game, but like the Lower Saxony they remain undefeated.

Third division – Verl at the top – sport

Newcomers SC Verl surprisingly took the lead on the third day of the third division. Ostwestfalen won at SV Meppen with goals from Aygün Yildirim (6th) and Steffen Lang (44th) 2-1 (2-0). Hilal El-Helwe (84th) was successful for the Emsländer. The previous front runner FC Ingolstadt, however, lost to SpVgg Unterhaching 0: 1 (0: 0). Niclas Stierlin (67th) scored the goal for the Munich suburbs.

Newcomer Türkgücü Munich only achieved a 4: 4 (2: 2) at Waldhof Mannheim in a crazy game after a 4: 2 lead. Petar Sliskovic (13th / 60th), Sercan Sararer (42nd) and Alexander Sorge (68th) scored the goals for the guests, Jan Christoph Just (27th), Dominik Martinovic (45th + 4, penalty kick) and Joseph Boyamba (73rd / 83rd) scored for the hosts. “That we still give up the win – just annoying. It was good in the front, we have to improve at the back. We are too low in the last ten minutes, we were too passive,” commented Sliskovic at MagentaSport.

The FSV Zwickau was defeated in 1860 Munich 1: 2 (1: 1). Sascha Mölders (1st) and Dennis Dressel (62nd) scored the goals for the sixties. Ronny König (9th) meanwhile equalized for the FSV. Promoted VfB Lübeck managed a 1: 1 (0: 0) against MSV Duisburg. 1. FC Magdeburg, the 1974 European Cup winners, lost to Viktoria Köln with 0: 2 (0: 2) and only have one point on their account. Maximilian Rossmann (12th) and Lucas Cueto (18th) scored the goals for the Rhinelander.

Athletics – Postponement for Russia – Sport

The world athletics association World Athletics has granted the Russian association Rusaf a five-month delay in an effort to obtain a possible readmission. The ultimate deadline for submitting a detailed and appropriate plan is now March 1, 2021, World Athletics announced on Saturday. The original deadline was September 30th; the Russia task force had proposed the extension of the deadline to the world association.

In November 2015, Rusaf was suspended for the first time because of widespread doping in Russian athletics. Since then, the suspension has been extended more than a dozen times. The draft plan submitted by Rusaf by the end of August was “better than what came before”, the task force found and referred in particular to the “admission of a doping culture in Russian athletics”. Nevertheless, the plan is “seriously flawed and does not meet most of the requirements,” said the statement.

According to the task force, this is not due to the Russian association’s lack of will, but rather to “a lack of know-how and resources”. If the plan is not in place by March 1, 2021, World Athletics warned, the council will “reconsider the issue of excluding Rusaf.”

It was not until mid-August, and after a delay, that Russia paid the US $ 6.31 million penalty imposed for the doping manipulation. This was one of the sanctions imposed by World Athletics. Failure to pay would have threatened Russia’s exclusion from the world association. The World Anti-Doping Agency had banned Russia from the summer and winter games for four years for manipulating doping data. At the same time, she had left the door open to participation for allegedly unpolluted athletes in the country under a neutral flag.

Moto GP – Rossi changes – Sport

Motorcycle rider Valentino Rossi will stay in the MotoGP class for another year, but will switch from the Yamaha works team to the Petronas SRT customer team. The nine-time world champion said he had carefully considered the decision. Rossi won seven titles alone in the motorcycle premier class, where he won his first Grand Prix 20 years ago.

“I am very excited to continue racing in 2021 and to do so with the Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team,” he said. “If you want to be at the front in MotoGP, you have to work a lot and hard, train every day and lead an athletic life. But I still like that and want to keep racing.” The Yamaha works team has signed the 21-year-old French talent Fabio Quartararo for 2021.

F1 qualifying – Hamilton back in front – Sport

When Sebastian Vettel crashed into the track barrier, Lewis Hamilton’s working day seemed to be coming to an abrupt end. The German’s destroyed Ferrari blocked the track, qualifying in Sochi was interrupted, and time was running out for Hamilton. And in the end everything was as always: At the last second, the Mercedes driver started his fast lap, then outclassed the rest of the field and set off on the hunt for the Schumacher record from pole position.

If Hamilton wins the Russian Grand Prix on Sunday (1:10 p.m. / RTL and Sky), then he has 91 victories in his career and thus set Michael Schumacher’s record. It is the second most important brand and also the penultimate one: At the end of the season, the Dominator should catch up with the German’s seven World Cup titles.

However, Hamilton almost had to start from far behind on Sunday, and that was due to Vettel’s violent accident. As in previous weeks, the Reds were slow again anyway, in the end the starting positions 15 and 11 were for Vettel and his teammate Charles Leclerc. The German’s appearance ended prematurely in the gang. Because of the cleanup, the session was stopped – and after restarting it seemed that the remaining time was ticking too fast for Hamilton. “Qualifying was terrible, one of the worst I’ve ever seen,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton: “I hope they are all wearing their masks.”

In the end it was enough again. With a course record he raced to pole position, Max Verstappen in the Red Bull and his team-mate Valtteri Bottas had no chance in second and third place. Ferrari had brought updates for Sochi, but nobody should expect too much from them: There are minor innovations that change little in the overall picture, said team boss Mattia Binotto.

At least the prelude was promising. The two Ferraris moved in the training sessions in the safe midfield – and Vettel was consistently faster than Leclerc. A finally carefree Grand Prix seemed possible, but with qualifying this hope was over. “Everything is okay,” said Vettel afterwards at Sky: “I knew that I had to make up a lot of time and tried to take more risks. I made a mistake and lost the car.”

For the first time this season, however, Formula 1 is back in front of well-filled grandstands. While up to 3,000 spectators were recently admitted to Mugello, the organizers in Sochi are opening the gates to up to 30,000 fans and want to use them to half fill the area around the 2014 Olympic venues. “I missed the fans terribly, it’s great to see so many of them,” said Hamilton: “I hope they all wear their masks.”

Italy – Gosens wins with Bergamo – Sport

The national player Robin Gosens celebrated a successful season debut with the Italian first division soccer team Atalanta Bergamo. Last season’s surprise team won 4-2 (3-2) at FC Turin despite a 0-1 deficit. Gosens, who had played his first international matches for the German national team in the Nations League at the beginning of the month, missed a goal opportunity after a little more than an hour of play and was replaced five minutes before the end of the game.

After Bergamo, which reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League as an outsider last season and finished three in Serie A, runner-up Inter Milan will also join the championship on Saturday evening. After their participation in the finals of the Europa League finals in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Lombards will meet AC Florence and Bayern Munich’s ex-star Franck Ribery. Defending champion Juventus Turin competes with AS Roma on Sunday.
